I relish the opportunity to hear them speak for such a long period as it seldom happens during ordinary classes. In addition, although I've given similar tasks for years, each and every time, I learn new things. Lastly, the students get an opportunity to work on many differing skill sets when doing this project.
This was the assignment:
BCIT COMM 0005 Oral Presentations – Fall 2012
Required Topic on a Local Business
Each student in our class must pick a business that he/she has used while in Vancouver. It may sell a product or provide a service. Concepts and terms used in other college-level courses are expected and encouraged. In other words, your classmates are professionals, so make sure your presentation is too. As well as choosing the business, you must pick a topic to share. Use the opportunity to learn something about your future career!
Research for this project must prove the presenter has used primary and secondary research techniques. Every presenter should draw up suitable questions and interview someone connected with the business. This may be done in person or over the phone. Researching information from the Internet only would not be considered suitable preparation.
Necessary Length
Each presentation will last ten minutes. Additional time will be used for a question-and-answer period. All questions must be answered fluently.
Use of Visual Aids
In recent years, I have made the use of Microsoft PowerPoint mandatory. At least three to four slides will be required. Make sure you put only enough information to act as an outline in your presentation. You should rely on the information on screen rather than having any written paper with you.
Presentation Dates
Presentations will take place on Wednesday, October 17th and Friday, 19th.
we are in this term on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
