Day 051: This has been an eventful year for us. We knew it'd end memorably too as we had heard that the Flic en Flac beach is a good place to ring in the New Year. We saw a lot of people setting up tents in the afternoon as they planned on staying into tomorrow.
First though, we went out to eat at our favourite close restaurant, Ah Youn. After the sunset it got predictably busy. In fact, we waited for about an hour and a half all together. We had no better place to be than next to the beach road with a whole lot of people planning a path into 2025.
We went home for a bit and headed back to the beach at around 11:15. We did a fair amount of ducking from people's fireworks. Weeks ago we saw huge quantitates at the supermarket and we knew it was going to be a bumpy night.
Right around midnight, the barrage of ordnance was absolutely amazing and a little frightening. It was probably just a smidgeon less dangerous than Kuta Beach in Bali. So many people. So much music too. And so many explosions! We slowly walked back to the apartment at about half hour into the new day and YEAR.
