The "In-Front-Of" Series 2

We've been travelling the world well before the term, selfie was coined. Yet, it's always been our custom to stand in front of famous landmarks for a photo. We have got hundreds. I last worked on a group of five blog posts entitled the 'in-front-of-series' in the spring of 2014. Therefore, it is obviously time for a refresher posting.

Although we were in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for five months of our first retirement winter, I didn't select any of those pictures to include today.

The 17 photos of the original series were randomly selected from years of travelling the globe. Today, I'm adding an addendum, so it contains only recent pictures.

The "In-Front-Of" Series - Day 5 of 5

Enough already! This task is complete. I found myself having to be selective for this final posting in the series. This week I found and highlighted 11 photos of us standing in front of different tourist places plus one local location. Today, I added a final five images for this project. I am now looking forward to going back to ordinary, random blog entries from tomorrow!

Notice how one never quite knows what the photo will look like when a fellow traveller snaps an image. The Statue of Liberty has no torch below; yet on another trip to NYC, we did manage to get right up into her crown.

The "In-Front-Of" Series - Day 4 of 5

Four days down; one to go!

As promised, I'm adding 5-days of touristy photographs as blog entries to this project series. (You may read the "Day 1" entry for my inspiration.)

I think I may later have to continue, at some point, with a similar series. In many situations, we found no one to ask for a together photograph. Many times, we have had to take each others' shots in front of a famous site or monument during our nearly three decades of travel. Yet, I'll leave that planning for some other week in the far-away future.

The "In-Front-Of" Series - Day 3 of 5

As the title of this entry indicates, I am now more than half way through this special project. Prior to this entry, I had added five photographs of Jay and I in front of tourist sites. There was a bonus one yesterday as well. I have rustled up three more images for today.

Again, there is really no inherent organization to this madness; I am simply trying to create an easy to locate collection for these type of photos. You may note the newly created label tag, In-front-of-series which will show all five of the eventual entries on a single page.

The "In-Front-Of" Series - Day 2 of 5

Yesterday, I promised to continue this in-front-of series throughout the week. I'm looking through photos to find examples of us standing in front of well-know tourist sites.

Yet today the weather was gorgeous and really seemed like a harbinger of spring. So we, being free, drove out to the Buntzen Lake Recreational Area. It is about 24KM (15 miles) north. It was interesting to drive up North Road into Port Moody just to see the progress on the construction of the next SkyTrain route, the Evergreen Line through Port Moody into Coquitlam. It is going to include one very long tunnel cut through a steep hillside.

I'll continue with several more pictures of us in front of famous places, but first I'll add one which is not near anything known internationally. It's one taken today during our little, morning drive. It is a special area to us as we often visit during the summer months and have used the picnic facilities there.

The "In-Front-Of" Series - Day 1 of 5

Perhaps I am simply anticipating our rapidly-approaching spring trip. For some reason, I thought of adding a series of entries of us standing in front of some famous object or place. The whole concept of vacation photography is to show off a little, isn't it? These are like saying, "I visited this place and in order to prove it, I'm going to stand in front of it for a photo."

That's cool, I guess. I am looking forward to doing exactly this behaviour in front of the Pyramids of Giza, the Treasury at Petra, and most probably the Western Wall in Jerusalem. The future in-front-of-series do not start to occur for another six weeks.

So, I think I will use my blog entry space for the remainder of this workweek for a simple project. From today through Friday, I will choose and highlight two or three these type of images from our adventures, near and far. I will select them in no particular order.
