In Sri Lanka, these endemic, orange coconuts are preferred for their water content over the more traditional green type. Kings are a bit different as they are harvested for the water when very young. At this age, the husk has not yet formed an inside, normal, hard shell. Instead, the outside is simply cut enough so that the inner cavity and its liquid becomes accessible.
As well as hydrating, these are known for their electrolyte balance, detoxifying properties, and for skin health.
