We wanted to visit the Festival City Shopping Mall today. We went and returned the same way. From here, we got on the Green Line and ended at the Creek Station. From there, we caught a small boat from the Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station to the Deira side. We just had to swipe the same transit card.
In this mall, there's a Carrefour Supermarket with a robot stock checker. Unfortunately, the little fellow was tired and had found his recharging station. We saw it parked getting some electricity. The store on the other side of the creek is a large format branch. Jay's sister bought some clothes inside.
We seem to divide the day into two sections with some rest in the middle. So in the evening we also saw a section of the original creek. There was a particular spice and nut shop where Jay's sisters wanted to buy some foodstuffs.
Our trip involved taking the Metro two stations and disembarking at Al Ghubaiba, the last stop before it tunnels under the creek. We walked along the water to the Abra crossing. Finally, I felt really at home in the 'modern' Dubai because this area was wisely kept pretty much free from development. The former desert areas are where all the 'new' real estate exists.
Jay's sisters got their cashews and other products cheaper here than in Sri Lanka. That doesn't seem quite right because cashews are grown in Sri Lanka, but who am I to question economics?
We walked back through the Meena Bazaar part of the old town. It is primarily Indian shops and a great exposure to life before all the highrise buildings. We walked nearly 12 kilometers today.
