Day 20 - Today we went to Italy. We'd planned on heading to the town just over the border called Ventimiglia. When we learned that they had a famous outdoor market on Fridays, we chose to visit today.
The train took about 50 minutes. We passed by cities we'd already visited. The 9:20 am train was pretty full until Monaco. However, we had 'upstairs' seats both coming and going.
Jay and I did not head up the hill into the old town, but first headed into the temporary market. There were several kilometers of stalls set up, wrapping around and along the shoreline. This is famous with both the locals and tourists. Of course the many women's €5. €10 and €20 fashions were not very interesting to us. There were tons of different types of products though.
At around noon, we decided to eat. We found Paprika, which had a variety of Mediterranean, Arab, and Indian type snacks. As I was officially in Italy, I chose a pizza. Jay had some sort of risotto biryani. That really filled us up, but we continued by walking around through the new part of town (on the east side of the river).
We got back before 3:00 pm.
