We were heading out the door as Jay wanted to mail a few letters with photos. We figured we'd use the Malaysia Post Office at the mall. I left my phone on the dining table. However, I'd not be able to instantly convert the prices into our various currencies without my app. Yikes, the world really turned a dark shade of grey considering how much of my life was trapped inside that little box.
I'm not one to 'go through' phones at all. In fact, in the last eight years, I have only owned a Google Nexus One and my current Nexus 5. I guess I get around 4 years out of a smartphone! Even though Google has moved on to its Pixel nomenclature, my old phone was proving rugged and dependable. I still find it easy to drop it on the charging pad, an innovation not found on many, even new, models now. I was thinking of buying a new phone this summer, but I was definitely not considering buying one in Malaysia now.
Would a brand new OnePlus T5 last for four years?
While at the mall, I did look to see what is available. I don't want one of the cheap Chinese OPPO or Vivo phones which so many Malaysians have. It seems as though Samsung has a bunch of models here, and I'd never heard of most of them. Sigh. I thought I'd end up researching specs and pricing on the Internet all afternoon.
However, when we got back my phone seemed fine. I think I may have sprayed Windex when cleaning the screen and some of the mist got inside. Still, I'm tempted to pick up a OnePlus 5T here. The pricing is not much different than what I'd pay in Canada. Or would it be wiser just to wait until I get back in April? Perhaps by then, the OnePlus 6 will be in the wild.
