I just spent a few hours reorganizing my class handouts. I teach the BCIT COMM 0004 course often. It`s my favourite as I am able to see a marked difference between the skills of the students when they come and by the time they exit. Sometimes, COMM 0004 is taught as a 84 course, generally during four-hour classes over different 21 days. This term, I am teaching the exact same materials as a 120-hour course. This time around, I am working with the students for only three hours per class over 40 meetings. Last fall, I taught the same thing but had four-hour classes over 30 mornings.
I cover the same materials but the various methods of scheduling can make a lot of difference. In fact it can affect the way I teach. I don't really mind the time spent reorganizing though. It just shows that no curriculum is ever without need for modification.
