Day 6 - Earlier in the week, our last day in Berlin was forecast to be rainy. We thought it'd be the perfect day to see Museum Island especially since access to the famous museums are free every Sunday.
We got up and had breakfast at our usual time of 8:15. Then we practiced how we'll get to the Berlin Central Train Station tomorrow morning. This is our last day in Berlin as we will head to Warsaw, Poland on a 9:52 am train. We take S2 to Potsdamer Platz and then catch a RE5. Even with the less frequent Sunday morning service, it took us around a half hour.
We felt comfortable, so we headed off to see a few museums. I used Google Maps as I've discovered the access to transit directions superbly handy when getting around.
We started in the 'new museum' and saw pretty good collections of Ancient Egyptian objects. Jay and I both are interested and spent an entire winter in Luxor, Egypt a few years after retiring. That museum also had a collection of European artifacts. The 'old' museum had Greek and Roman artifacts.
Many tourists were making use of the free Sunday admissions. Today, I'm glad that we saw one of the most visited tourist attractions of Berlin. The plans for 'Museum Island' seem as though the area will continue to attract a love of history and art well into the future.
