Day 16 - We were in no hurry to eat breakfast. The days start early in Sri Lanka because the sun always rises around 6:00 am but being near the equator, it sets at about 6:00 pm.
We used the Pick-Me app and had a ride ready to take us to Merihana, Nugegoda at around 10:00 in the morning. We asked that the driver take the old road and avoid the new expressway. We'd not seen the old, familiar road to Colombo for a few years. As we suspected quite a lot of new buildings exist.
We got to our destination at around 11:35. The trip is only around 50 kilometers but there is traffic on the roads 24/7 now.
Of course, Jay's elder sister had made a traditional rice and curry lunch. There was watalappam for dessert too. It is a favourite steamed, coconut custard made with palm sugar and spices such as cardamom and nutmeg.
We had a long nap in the afternoon and walked to a nearby supermarket in the late afternoon. It is always fun staying here because we are close to the capital city of Colombo. There are lots of things to see within a close distance from this house.
