Day 10 - This morning our VRBO host drove in from her home outside of central Nice. She had arranged for a plumber. On the day we arrived, she had temporarily fixed a slightly loose kitchen faucet. The faucet looks new and I think it was not correctly tightened when installed during a recent renovation. She had asked if it was okay to come between 8:00 and 9:00 am and let in her plumber. It was. It only took a few minutes for the guy to complete the job because he had the correct tools.
We noticed how lovely the weather looked after being a little overcast yesterday. We picked a close spot for a visit.
The very day we got to Nice, we travelled on Tram #2 directly from the airport to downtown. That runs the length of the bay. Although it burrows underneath the central zone, it pops back out at a location we wanted to see this morning.
The old port is just on the other side of Castle Hill and we had only seen it from above. Today though, we went back to Tram #2 and finished that line because it terminates above ground right beside Port Lympia.
After walking to the end, we decided to continue around the point of Castle Hill. It was a great sunny day to retrace steps from the #ILoveNice letters to Avenue Jean Médecin. Today, we watched the jets approach the airport from the east as they flew close enough so we could identify the logos on each plane. Many were EasyJet, but we saw British Air and KLM too. I didn't take any photos but you can see a seagull in one image below.
Finally, as we were on our way back to the apartment on the always busy Avenue Jean Médecin, we ran into an organized protest against the recent changes to social insurance pensions of the nation of France. Union members were marching as far along the avenue as we could see. How very French, we thought!
