Day 17 - Today, the weather forecast threatened afternoon thundershowers! We have lots of daytrips left undone but we decided to stick close to home today. Walking for just a few minutes takes us out to Avenue Jean Médecin. There is always activity day and night. I love how main, European pedestrian streets are 'plein de vie'.
This trip is turning out very well. Going forward, we could shorten some winters away just so we can stay in new locations during future Junes.
Since early retirement in 2014, typically, we've gone to explore places that are warm and sunny during the months of dark and rainy British Columbian winters. There's certainly a whole lot of the world that fits those criteria remaining to be both discovered and revisited. So, we'll keep doing that. Yet, there's also a fair amount of the earth's surface that has a similar climate to our home. We also hope to enjoy places that match that climate. The French Riviera is a case in point.
If we return to soggy BC weather during a future March, then we'll be ready for a chance to explore a new place come the following June. Our only problem will be whittling down choices for destinations. There are so many places and so few years left. We've been to Lisbon. However, the city of Porto, Portugal sounds like an amazing location to stay a month. In fact, much of Europe has great weather during June. Where would you go if you had the opportunity?
