Day 3 - We were in bed last night by 8:00 pm. I knew we would sleep fitfully because of our lack of it when getting to Nice.
Well, we got up at 9:40 this morning! That surely sounds like a whole lot of hours but we will need to work hard to change from Pacific to European time.
We went for several walks in the morning, doing more grocery shopping and just looking around our part of Central Nice. Later, we had late afternoon naps today.
Jay and I went for an evening walk at around 6:30 pm. We walked to the waterfront coming out from our road Casino Nice Palais De La Mediterranee. So, it was our first time on the Promenade de Anglais.
It wasn't far to the Fountaine de Soleil. We slowly followed the Tram 1 route back to our neighbourhood. It was probably about 8:00 when we got back. We'd bought pizza-type bread at a bakery. (This city was officially part of a dukedom until a referendum in 1860. Many of those provinces eventually became a part of present-day Italy.) I popped open a bottle of €2.80 (US$3.00) cheap, French wine and poured a glass.
So, we did quite a lot of walking on three separate outings. However, we are centrally located. The Nice Tram system will help when we want to get around this city. And we're just a few minutes walk from the train station which can take us along the entire Côte d'Azur.
It is a leisurely 15-minute walk to the beach along the main shopping street or along smaller routes.
