Day 93 - It was a fantastic day to go and watch tourists. We've been in Buenos Aires for a couple of months but saved going to La Boca neighbourhood until today. It was a poor port area that received millions of immigrants in the 20th century. So it was a melting pot barrio with many residents from the city of Genoa, in Italy.
The area is highlighted as the birthplace of the tango.
A small area near the old port has become an important tourist spot in the city. Today many shops and buildings are brightly painted. Old warehouses now house souvenirs and dozens of area restaurants are filled with visiting locals and foreign tourists.
For the first time, today we took a city bus going and coming. The routes are well-planned and the fare is paid using the same card as we use on the subway system. We took a #8 bus which meant we had a little walk through more of the neighbourhood. So, we also passed the stadium that boasts one of the two largest football teams in Argentina, the Boca Juniors. We came back on the quick #64 route right to our street.
