Day 94 - Today was a day off in Argentina. I don't mean for us. It is a public holiday as is tomorrow. These days are during Carnaval. The final big bash for this neighbourhood is on May 6th. Unfortunately, we won't yet be back from Rio until the day that follows!
Jay read online that there was a street party from 4 to 10 pm at Plaza de Mayo today and tomorrow. It's the political center of the country and is the location of the well-known balcony of the Casa Rosada from which Eva Peron addressed crowds of the nation. The plaza is only a few minutes away because we can get on Line A of the subway right outside.
We took the subway at 5:00 pm but found nothing had started. In fact, an enormous sound system for a stage, facing down Avenida de Mayo, was still being set up. We came back home but might go back out after the sun goes down tonight.
