Before Christmas in Sri Lanka, Jay and I received our notifications from the Health Department of the BC government. They said that we were eligible for our COVID-19 vaccination boosters. We had to wait for our return to Canada however. So, after we'd started our return home, we booked appointments from Dubai. They were for 10:00 AM at the Queensborough Walmart today.
Getting to the Queensborough bridge always takes a bit longer than expected, but we were at the Walmart early and now we've had our COVID-19 booster shots. I did pick up a new bike helmet, although the courier tried to deliver my Apollo Ghost at the exact same moment as the purchase. So, I have only a helmet and no electric scooter on which to ride!
From there, we drove up 22nd Avenue so we could get to the ICBC at the Metrotown Mall. Jay had started the process of officially changing his name last fall. When immigrating, one official document from Canada omitted his last name. For over 25 years, it made no difference. However, when trying to get this BC Services card replacement last summer, a computer kicked up a fuss. He had to go through the process of officially changing his name to match the one he's used on everything in Canada for a quarter of a century.
Today, the clerk continued to have a bit of trouble with the computer, but the supervisor made sure they got his picture taken. The official ID will come in the mail, but they cannot promise it'll be arriving before the month is up.
While in the shopping mall, we looked at an exhibition from Oregon that used only plastic items which had washed up on the formerly pristine beaches of the state. It was almost a crime to make such disgusting trash into such beautiful art. It does make a point though.
