Day 49 - Most visits to Sri Lanka include a lot of time at the house of Jay's elder sister. Being in Nugegoda is convenient as it's close to Colombo and associated facilities. For example, this week we will apply for a two-month visa extension for the remainder of our stay. The Department of Immigration is a short way from here.
I always eat too much when visiting. The spread is always extensive and the food delicious. Today we had traditional rice and curry. I especially loved the prawns and the eggplant with mustard seed. Also, dessert in Sri Lanka is often fruit salad. However, this is not the peach and pear stuff from a can with the dyed pink cherries. Fruit salads here usually include freshly-cut papaya, pineapple, mango, and raisins. The vanilla ice cream topped it off perfectly.
I am too fat and should be dieting. I'll start on that next spring!
