Day 07 - We really didn't start off with a definite plan this morning. I had read about an area of Dubai we didn't really know about. I read of a shopping mall in Festival City. It looked like a development fairly close to the airport on the creek.
Interestingly, it looked like we could take the Metro and transfer to a ferry from this side. So we got on a train on the Green Line to a station named Creek.
From the Metro station, we just had to walk a bit towards the Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station 2. We boarded immediately after deducting 2 Dhs each from our transit cards.
It was a great morning and a scenic trip across a wider section of water. When we worked here 30 years ago, we never got out to this area as it was not developed. In fact, I don't think much existed beyond the Golf Club. Today, there was much more.
We walked through the mall and visited a very large Carrefour supermarket. I marvelled at a stock-checking robot roaming the aisles and the fresh vegetables for sale from the little in-store hydroponic farm.
We walked out past an IKEA to the road and waited for a bus. We read the sign and got on Bus #44 as it promised to head back to Karama. It didn't take a quick route stopping at various stops on the way. We got off one station before we were home and came back to the Bur Juman on the Metro.
We had a nice morning.
