Today's entry is a bit of a follow up to one written last Thursday.
From our balcony, we can view the old Army & Navy Department Store on Columbia Street. We've seen a constant lineup at the door since their going-out-of-business sale began. It was raining at ten o'clock this morning and we noticed fewer people than usual. We headed down and got right in.
The four floors contained a lot of merchandise and everything was 25% off. We bought a few things but probably the best deals were in fishing and camping equipment. Jay did manage to find a good backpack for travel. He also got a few clothes and we got some good-quality, completely-cotton sheets.
However, every single customer on the main floor had to go through check out at a mere two clerks. They were doing as well as they could. It meant we had nearly a 45-minute wait. The deals weren't really worth the hassle. I guess, we did appreciate the chance to say a final goodbye to a fixture in our community.
