Day 16 - On our Deck 6, near our cabin door, a letterbox is affixed to the wall. It contained two certificates this morning. They state we crossed the equator at around midnight and grant us all priveledges of continuing to do so in the future. Elsewhere on this deck, I've seen a gigantic political globe which rises four feet on its floor stand. Just now though, I opened to page 234/35 in an enormous copy of the 'Oxford Altas of the World'.
For all our travels, we've been in the Southern Hemisphere only one summer in the early 1990's. I confirmed that Jakarta and our overland travels to Bali were, indeed, more than 5 degrees south of the equator.
This, however, will be the first and possibly the final time we cross the equator on the open seas.
