Day 10 - We woke up while still heading north. We ate breakfast on the Lido deck but then lined up at the door of dining for a short trip through the gallery and kitchens. We got a fact sheet explaining some amazing facts on the quality and quantity of food served on the MS Westerdam. At around 9:30 we were nearing our first port ?in Croatia. The coastline with steep mountain and villages along the coast was as stunning as any cruise could offer. We have yet to sign up for any organized city tours on this trip. We are quite capable of finding the public bus system as we did today. First, we had to take 300 Croatian Kunas from an ATM. That's about $US50 as we will also need some spare change in Split in two days. The bus ride to the Pile Gate took around fifteen minutes.

We entered the Old City and spent a few hours walking around the entire fortified, Medieval city. We didn't take the Game of Throne tours but recognized scenes from programs shot here. It's felt a little like Disneyland but of course is real history. There's little in the way of damage left from the civil war that occurred 25 years ago. I can completely see why this is such a tourist hot spot. It's very lovely and if I have ever blogged the word 'charming', it'd have to be used in a description today.
