The Big Changes in Television

Television has changed. No, I don't mean the advent of high definition, although I spent 47 years of my life watching the fuzzy, squarer version of it. Our last ten years have been widescreen but more than that has changed. Television primarily comes in over IP now whether streamed or saved. Still, that is not the biggest difference I see.

The largest change involves the wealth of amazingly complicated and quality programming available in 2016. More likely than not, we watch season-fuls of programs in just a few sittings now. We are in the middle of season 3 of this series at the moment.


Discovering new programs is much more difficult than just turning on the screen nowadays. For example, I just learned about a series called Indian Summers from British Channel 4. It is now in the second season, so I have the initial 10 episodes to catch up on. I do love so wide vistas and colourful costumes.
