New Westminster's Hyack Festival schedules our parade over the US long weekend just to get some festival floats up here from Washington State. We used to get groups from further afield, even high school marching bands from California. I think I can also remember floats from Alberta in years past. Now even the Seattle SeaFair Pirates no longer attend to end the procession with a bang.
Still, you'd not keep us from our local annual event. We didn't move to New West until July of 1996, so I am sure we missed the one that year. Years that we've been here, we always go. Today, we parked on the roof of the Westminster Mall. My truck was getting dusty so the outing worked to provide a free wash today. We stood for the parade but didn't go to the uptown events afterwards.
