Getting to Know You - Day 25

Being a short-term tourist is fun as well as educational. We've done that a lot over the years. These cursory views, however, provide a rather shallow perspective. Calling a place home for a longer period of time allows for a more intimate knowledge of a place.

First, it's fun to get to know the neighbours, most of whom start early practicing ways to communicate with foreigners.


Also, travelling as the locals do is immensly preferable to being with a bus-full of tourists who never really manage to leave home despite their physical location.


Lastly, simply being able to observe an area under varying conditions makes the travel experience more gratifying.
