Queen Nefertiti is Likely a Neighbour - Day 24

When we first explored this area in May of 2014, we rushed around being tourists. So, it feels funny that we have been here for a couple of weeks yet have visited no tombs nor seen any ancient artifacts. It was that previous trip which demonstrated to us that a winter here was a possibility though.

It is rather exciting that they are still making discoveries in the valley behind our winter home! Right near the bottom of the mountain the irrigation runs out and consequently all the productive land. The dryness is precisely why such ancient sites have remained for thousands of years. Of course this and the fact, the Valleys of the Kings and Queens were hiding places. Some quite successfully, by the looks of today's news.
