We went over in the morning today to see if we could accomplish some banking. We've chosen to do a lot of our banking at one that has an international reach. It has already proven convenient to use a local ATM branch. Last winter in Puerto Vallarta, we accessed cash that way. Here we will do the same.
I was a bit surprised that this branch did not have access to our accounts from an inside teller. All transactions have to be done via the ATM. That put me in a bit of a bind, as I had to transfer money between accounts and I still haven't bothered to get a local SIM for my phone. Luckily, the bank representative offered the use of her mobile to get an access code for free wifi in the bank. I was able to move funds and then use the machine. The only problem was the daily restriction didn't allow me to take my full amount today. We can go over later in the week.
Getting over to the busy side is fun anyways and we'll probably end up there on most days. There's more to see. The ancient Luxor Temple is smack dab in the middle of the city. In fact, we need to walk around it to get to town. Doing so adds a lot to our daily number of kilometers walked.
Of course, coming home to the quiet, more rural side is a pleasure as well. Our place has a garden courtyard area. It gets dark quite early now, but as there will likely be no rain during our winter here, we can be assured of more than 10.5 hours of sunshine per day.
