I wonder what the price would have been if we bought these items in Burnaby, BC today? Here, in Puerto Vallarta the bill came to 124 Mexican pesos, which at today's exchange rates means $CA 10.24 or $US 8.01 exactly. It's weird that there are so many variables in food prices. The price of produce depends on many factors including: transportation costs, trade agreements, climate, exchange rates, weather, traditions, cost of living in the country, and more.
I expect that with the recent, furious drop in the value of the Loonie, we're going to be in for somewhat of a shock when buying fruits and vegetable at home next month.
