I admit, of late, I'm having difficulties gathering the momentum to ensure a daily blog entry. There are now times when I squander ideas which would have once been displayed prominently here. It's just so much easier to add some of this profoundness to my Facebook wall and be done with it.
I'm still struggling to differentiate my reason for sticking with both venues. Of course, Facebook is more current but fleeting. Its status updates allow an immediate thought to gain a wider audience. That is similar to what I used my blog for when it was in its infancy. I've come to accept my blog as being wider in scope and less transient.
My blog is supposed to be a more historical, if not hysterical, account of life. It gives me a place to comment on a wider scope of events or concepts. The writing in my eJournal and images is supposed to have a longer shelf-life. I wish to use it for a more complex weaving of fact and opinion even though, I fear, it many not often live up to that ideal. There are times when a simple inclusion of a picture is all I can manage to offer.
Still, with each of the increasing number of years in which I successfully add a post, I approach a more accurate representation of my actions and ideas. I really have to give myself credit. I don't think I've ever seen a daily blog which has continued uninterrupted for such a long period of time. I amaze myself a little that I've not missed a day here since Labour Day of 2003.
I am freakishly special (and that's something I want to go down in the annals of history).
