Today is Victoria Day in Canada and this means today was the last day of a long weekend. The prior two days were wet which didn't encourage us to get outside. Due to the promise of a little sunshine, we decided it was time to get out of the apartment.
We just drove over to Highway 1 in Burnaby, across the Iron Worker's Memorial Bridge, and eventually past Horseshoe Bay. Big improvements to the Sea-to-Sky Highway were made for last year's Olympic games. That is the route that heads to Whistler/Blackcomb. There was no reason for us to go all the way to the resort. Our goal was just a leisurely drive to Squamish, a city at the half way point. We stopped at every chance along the still-twisting road.
Shannon Falls is right off 99.
Porteau Cove Provincial Park is along the route.
Getting out was so worth it. The round-trip total of hundred or so miles helped to remind me of fact we live in a very awe-inspiring place. I should never let myself forget that.
