I have great many admirable traits (with, of course, modesty being right up there on the list). Chief among them is my ability to follow through on commitments. My Daily Picture Parade is a prime example. I promised myself on the first of July in 2005 that I'd upload at least one picture per day to the photo-sharing site, Flickr. Well, a good solid five years and a quarter years later, I'm still at it.
Digital pictures are free to take. Although there are a great many days which seem too boring and ordinary for a photo, I have found I can always find something of interest around the house. During points in my life prior to this project, I have almost no images of past apartments. How sad to not be able to come up with photos from various places I've stayed. It'd be very fun to be able to re-visit locations through a picture 25 years later.
On November 5, 2005 I must not have had any major events going on. My daily picture was simply a closeup of part of a batik wall hanging of a Sri Lankan Perahera. It is still on the wall. In fact, the three-foot cloth in a glass-covered picture frame, is right behind me as I'm typing this. I can only wish I knew what was on the wall of the Juffair flat in Bahrain during the first Gulf War. Alas, I've got no pictures of such trivial things from those days.
