There is no carpet or pad left in here. Another trip to the transfer station got rid of all evidence of the dirty beige threads. It is interesting to see the actual concrete of this building. A few sections of the aggregate are almost pretty. If I could just throw down a clear coating, it'd be good enough! No, I guess not. On Tuesday afternoon installers will be here putting down 600 sq feet of new wall-to-wall.
Ripping and pulling was only messy and dusty. My fight with a Phillips screwdriver occurred in the afternoon. We picked up 1" aluminum Venician blinds a few weeks back but kept them in boxes in the hall. Today, we split open the cartons. Two of the five packages didn't have the necessary hardware, so I had to run back to Home Depot to get about 20 screws. Our living room has about eleven linear feet of glass. There are two windows adjoining a sliding glass door which opens out to the balcony. Three blinds make up that width. After installing the first two, we discovered we were about an inch off on the other end. I hoped we'd not screwed up when special ordering them. Fortunately, they were prefect, but we had to take down the first two sections and re-hang them. Grrr. The small project took far too long. I'd also like to shoot the people who wrote the instructional paper. Now that I know how they are installed, I shall probably never do it again!
