Day 118 of Our Winter: This marked the final day of our stay in Sri Lanka for the winter. A van will arrive at 10:00 pm for the twenty-minute trip to the airport. We'll be in Hong Kong tomorrow before noon. As we bought cheaper flights on Thai Airways, we will have to take a short look at BKK again. We've not had any time in HK since 2006.
It was a rather 'in-between' day. Too late to start anything new and too early to really get ready for flying. So, we busied ourselves with little chores. The neighbourhood barber guy wasn't in his shop during the last couple of days. It seems his father had a little accident in a tuk-tuk and hurt his hand. We had to wait a bit but I had my money's worth. With a tip, I paid around US $1.75.
We snapped this picture of Jay standing near one of two shade tress planted near the back door of the house. A Karada tree is yellowish at this time of year as a brief nod to its deciduous nature. Rather than dropping leaves to survive a frozen winter, they shed a few during the small dry season to save on the need for water. When we arrived they were knee-high. I snapped the photo to see how large they'll have become when we come to the house again.
