Day 072: I'm starting to really love this city. Cape Town is a clean, friendly, and interesting location. Being here during the middle of their summer is affording us some spectacular weather.
We looked ahead on the local forecasts and saw that today was going to start off with a few clouds but, just as yesterday, they were pretty hard to spot! Tomorrow checks out splendidly, so we have decided to grab a hop-on hop-off bus tomorrow and also take the opportunity to go up Table Mountain in a gondola.
Today, we just walked along Long Street to find a pharmacy, I noted on Google Maps. I will replenish a few of my prescription medications. I brought along enough for the winter but it's always better to have an extra supply. The folks at the Olson's Pharmacy were so kind and helpful. I had my prescriptions with me. Megan photocopied them and checked that she could get them in stock by tomorrow. She Whatsapped me that they will be available for pick up tomorrow.
We continued to amble straight out to the intersection at the end of Long Street. Table Mountain, tomorrow's destination, loomed ahead of us. However we turned onto Orange Street and found an absolutely lovely part of this city. We had inadvertently stumbled onto Company's Garden. The area has a history of around 375 years! Take a look at its Wikipedia link here.
We continued by famous sites like the Parliament and the National Library. We were walking back towards our apartment and, in no time at all, found ourselves back at the St. George's Cathedral and Greenmarket Square.
The square is directly behind our building and sports a lively collection of stalls selling African crafts. We ducked into a wonderful type of huge food restaurant where all the products are prepared and sold by weight. It is a single company but had very many types of food that could be eaten there or scooped into carry-away containers. Jay and I had only ice cream cones before returning back to the apartment for a late lunch.
Like I've already said, I'm starting to really love this city!
