The flight from Sri Lanka was an hour late but it didn't matter because the itinerary had a four-hour stop-over in Dubai. So we had plenty of time before the final 15-hour and 45-minute flight.
Our Air Canada plane arrived early. We'd used the CanApp to pre-declare nothing for customs. So there was zero weight time for us. My bag was one of the first to hit the belt. However, Jay's was on the second batch that came out. So we got into our Uber at YVR for a ride home at 7:46 am.
We had a normal day at home, or at least as normal as possible. We threw the breakers and all the powered equipment sprang back to life. One important task, early on, was to get the car insured for other errands of the day. I had that done in no time. We only had a short nap but haven't caught up on sleep. We sort of felt like the metal ball in a pinball machine bouncing around trying to figure out what to get done.
We did pick up some groceries at the uptown Walmart and set about regular things at home. There were no surprises but a mailbox full of official letters from our bank. HSBC Canada is being sold to Royal Bank of Canada. The switchover is surely creating a whole lot of paperwork!
Today, the weather was impressive. We're a little earlier than some other years, so we will have a chance to see the full array of cherry blossoms in 2024.
