Day 40 - Big is the adjective that rules in this city. This evening we went to 'Global Village' for the first time. I guess it has quite a long history, starting in 1997, the year after we left work in Dubai. The present location dates from this millennium, I read.
Global Village is a type of seasonal retail, food, and entertainment fairground. The permanent structures operate just from October through April. It is divided into regions of the world where one can sample food or shop. There are also some carnival rides and a water feature. Prominent musical artists have performed at the site.
It seems very popular as there were thousands of guests on a Monday evening! A surprising number of locals and families from the Gulf were strolling the grounds that open at 4:00 pm and close at midnight.
We took RTA bus #103 from Union Station. The comfortable transit takes around an hour as it is really in the middle of an area that was desert.
So, we had another day with more than eight kilometers of walking. I don't need to check my Fitbit app as I can tell by how my legs feel. We took the 9:00 pm bus back to Union Station and caught the Red Line to BurJuman, our stop. So many cars are on the roads at all hours nowadays.
