Day 13 - Jay and I decided to go downtown with a little shopping list. We'd not been in the Co-op Super during this stay. It is my favourite because it is usually packed with people and because it cannot expand, it's chockablock full.
We requested a Pick-Me tuk-tuk. We have to constantly tell them how to get here as the app's built-in GPS system always tries to send them in a roundabout way. That's an extra kilometer or two. Sometimes, I think the drivers see the ride-share app's price and decide the fee isn't enough. Whereas if they came along the airport road, they'd be here in less than six minutes.
We got out at the clock tower just to walk around. Lots of things are different. The post office isn't one of them. I don't think it has had a coat of paint since I first saw the building in the 1980s. We found a new shortcut road next to it.
The Co-op was the main reason for the trip. We spent about a half hour and an equivalent of $CA 30 inside. We then used another Pick-Me to come back home.
I am enjoying these days of rest. In less than two weeks we'll be tourists in Dubai again.
