Day 15 - We hopped on a train again but this was the first time that we travelled west. It seemed like a perfect morning to head to Cannes, France. We took a train which stopped at all stations so it took us about 35 minutes from Nice Center to the station in Cannes.
We walked from the station towards the water. From that road, the beach was to the left and the old port to the right. As you can see, we headed right to Le Suquet, the oldest neighbourhood, on the hill. We hiked up to the medieval castle.
After taking a few photos, we headed down via steps and little alleys full of restaurants and crafts shops. Once down on level ground, one of the very first places we came across was the covered market.
It was pretty but we made no purchases. We headed east.
When we returned to the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, we lingered for a bit. This is the location where all the film lovers gather for the famous film festival. No one had rolled out the red carpet for us, so Jay stood by the front steps waiting to be 'discovered'.
Moments later, convinced of our own importance despite the lack of external verification, we moved on. By now, we were at the start of La Croisette Walkway. It was nice and sandy and full of people enjoying the beach on a lazy Sunday. We succumbed to a bit of frozen mango.
Lastly, we walked inland towards the station and bought return tickets to Nice.
