We have been home for nearly two weeks now. So, surely it was time to visit our closest Home Depot.
This morning, Jay had our dishwasher's door spring break. Over the years that has happened numerous times. In fact, I found a new replacement in our box of maintenance junk. However, we didn't fix it. As regularly, there's just the two of us, we don't use the dishwasher much. It seems just as simple to wash each plate and simply use the space inside as a place to let them dry. However, if we had a newer version of the appliance, we figured, we might make more use of it. Although the cycles are longer on modern dishwashers, they are quieter and use a whole lot less water and electricity.
The existing dishwasher was an original unit for this apartment. It has the name 'Admiral' on it, which was bought out by Whirlpool Canada in the 1980s. We replaced the fridge and stove some years back, but the dishwasher must have been sitting there for close to 40 years.
We had talked about buying a new one for a while, however, just never got to it. So, after 25 years of living here, we decided to 'spring' for a complete replacement. Maybe, we'll even learn to use it once in a while.
