Day 90 (of our winter trip) - It looks like we will soon be beginning the third month since leaving New Westminster, British Columbia in November.
For the entire first month, we were aboard the HAL Oosterdam. Soon after leaving Florida, we turned westward to the Panama Canal. Then, after stopping at ports along South America's west coast, we ventured around the tip of the continent. We sailed to Buenos Aires after a day visiting penguins in the Falkland Islands.
We have greatly enjoyed two months based in Buenos Aires. As the saying goes: Time goes quickly when you're having fun. Our Airbnb has seemed like our own comfy, little place in this amazing city. Rather than rushing around to see the tourist sites, we've lived here and explored slowly, trying to savour each and every day. For example, Jay cooks nearly every meal we eat. Part of our enjoyment of new places involves grocery shopping. These fresh beets are in the kitchen along with some type of long orange plum-type fruit previously unknown to us.
Still, we feel we could experience a bit more adventure this winter! We will be shy of circumnavigating South America. Yet, we did not want to miss setting foot in Brazil.
Therefore, we booked a nine-day, round-trip MSC cruise to Rio de Janeiro. We will leave on the last Sunday of the month and return on March 7th. After we get back, we will have a little less than two weeks remaining in Buenos Aires.
