In 2018, some of the historic zoo landmarks were revitalized and the area was reopened as the Buenos Aires Eco-park. The area, now free, includes many educational signs and a number of smaller roaming animals which don't require attention and upkeep.
One is likely to have peacocks or several Patagonian maras cross one's path.
A great deal of work seems to be ongoing on the facilities and we did spy giraffes, emus, and a condor from a distance on the grounds. I'm not really sure of the direction that this facility might take. The area is relaxing and we saw many others enjoying the location as well.
It proved to be a pleasant morning activity for us. We took the subway and for the first time transferred to the D Line. We got off at the stop before Palermo.
The grounds are lovely and sizable at 44 acres. The landscaping is great with many very mature trees and ponds. I'm glad we visited.
