I noticed that this photo had been representing Turkey. This is Jay when we were working and living in Bahrain in the late 1980s. It was the first time he'd ever seen snow up close. We were in Ankara and I'd rented a car so we could get out and around to see the countryside.
Although this is an acceptable scan, we recently spent six nights in Istanbul when returning from our winter away. So, today I replaced that picture with a newer one. I will continue to have a single photo for each country but I may change it should we meander back on repeat visits.
The new image shows enthusiastic families fishing from the Galata Bridge in Istanbul. We stayed in a hotel near the historic Galata Tower during the final week of April. This pedestrian, vehicle and transit bridge crosses the Golden Horn just before the waters empty into the Bosporus.
