I knew the house needs a router and constant online access. Without messing with a wired provider, I knew that a good 4G router would be more than sufficient. When exiting the airport there are at least three providers from which to choose. Of course, I happened to go with the one with the worst coverage at the house in Yatiyana, Minuwangoda. Dialog only shows up as 2G most of the time, useful for nothing when in my phone!
However, this is the little router I shipped to Canada from China before we left.
When the device is working it is amazing. I can pop out my phone's SIM and slip it into the bottom slot on the device! As well as the Hutch-company SIM loaned by a friend to provide 4G, it somehow manages to pull in a strong 4G Dialog connection that our phones cannot even see.
Better yet, it can carry up to 10 concurrent sessions meaning everybody can log on and use it simultaneously. Of course, even the TV.
Furthermore, the wifi signal it emits is powerful. When sitting in the middle of the concrete house, one can get access from every room. Even way out in the garden, I can use 'SUKHITHA', our network name. For example, earlier today, Jay and I each connected to an MS Teams holiday video chat with friends in Vancouver and Kathmandu. The Kuwifi device provided smooth access.
So, when it worked, it was great. Now, however, I can't get it to boot up. It seems impossible to do a software reset unless I'm connected to it. The hard reset button also does nothing because the device is not operational. Sigh!
