That of course means that well before 8:00 am, Renuka was out raking the entire yard with a coconut-palm broom. There is a lot of ground for Jay's younger sister to take care of. The sweeping is a sound familiar to non-city Sri Lankan mornings. I understand where Jay gets his inclination for early morning cleaning.
The sweeping noise is alongside the morning symphony of bird sounds.
Oh, and there were those sounds plus the mobile bread guys playing taped tunes indicating their bakery as they crisscross the roads and lanes in tuk-tuks. There's nothing better than freshly-baked roast pan delivered to one's door just hours after coming from an over.
Seldom is a place filled with such preponderance of noise without the sum total being an annoyance. Yet, I always find it pleasant, even comforting in Sri Lanka!
The remainder of the day was completed with odds and ends. Among them, I thought I'd fixed the 4G router only to have it freeze up after a few hours of use.
There were naps that fit in well into the hot afternoons of December. The late day promise of a little rain finally arrived after 7:00 this evening. We'd not seen any precipitation since getting here on December 16. Jungles need sun and rain. I welcomed a little liquid as it came in the form of a refreshing shower.
