Getting there only takes a few minutes as it's around eight kilometers to Port Royal Park. However as it is the start of the north and south branches of the Fraser River, it's necessary for us to drive across a bridge. There is now a little city ferry which runs from the downtown quay but we've never been on it. However, we do enjoy visiting the area once in a while. Today, we took some time to walk to the easternmost point and looked up the river towards downtown New Westminster.
The part of the island which was once just industrial and vacant now contains a great, expensive mix of new residential properties. More seems on the way each time we visit.
