We hadn't intended to go on such a hike. We started by simply going back to the beach by the old town area, called Olas Atlas. We came out of the Centro near the south end of the Malecon. The hill beckoned and we didn't know what we'd see if we walked up, so we did.
Near the bottom was the lookoff point with a statue of a guy on a motorcycle. It was the Pedro Infante Monument. He was one of Mexico's famous actors during cinema's golden age. It was a part played in one of his most famous movies, 1951’s “A Todo Máquin.” We continued.
The sidewalk was quite small as the official 21-kilometers of Malecon, or boardwalk ends at Olas Atlas. We walked to get a view of the final point of the famous lighthouse. We were directly under the 1873 observatory but didn't take the funicular up today.
We walked back the same route. By the time we returned to the apartment, we'd walked over seven kilometers.
