A lot of compost is produced here as people consume a large number of fruits and vegetables. It is a land of plenty. Around the base of the coconut trees near the house, compostable materials are added daily. This creates healthy soil around them. Often, because seeds are included in the waste, plants will come up by themselves.
There were several, two-foot young papaya plants down near the bananas in the yard. Today, one plant was transplanted between the house and the outside wall. I hope to be able to document its progress in a future blog post or two.
