10 Years of My Mango Tree

Day 24 - Years and years ago, after I fell in love with mangoes, I wanted my own tree. I mentioned this fact when visiting Sri Lanka in 2009. The house in Minuwangoda has plenty of garden space to plant just about any tropical tree. We made space near the old shed in the back.

We came to Sri Lanka again in 2012/13. After three years, my tree had grown a lot. It looked healthy and I was pleased.

During this visit, I was surprised when I pulled up these old photos because the tree has been around for 10 years. By this number of years, most trees have already produced fruit. This one is in a bit of a shady place and it has yet to flower. However, I'm expecting reports that soon my tree will have mangoes growing on it.
