This morning we wanted to try out our shiny, plastic bus passes and took a roundabout way of getting there. We took our neighbourhood bus to its end at the Jetty and then switched to a #203 which ends at our intended destination town.

We sort of knew the area from previous exploration on Google Street View. We found our would-have-been apartment building. Then, we walked the main town area. We decided to save a hike up to the Kek Lok Si Temple for another day. Today, threatening clouds hounded us. On a clear day, we will get a clear view of George Town in the distance and the northeastern side of Penang Island.

We were not very far from home, we knew. Rather than going back through downtown on such long routing, we waited for bus #306. We were on one once so we know they are not completely fictitious. They are supposed to run only every 45 to 60 minutes. We did have to wait along the road for more than a half hour near Paya Terubong. Going up and over the hill landed us at home with a ride of less than 10 minutes.
The rain held off until just now. It's coming down in torrential, tropical buckets! It's warm water though.
