Day 43 - We visited Penang for a few days in 2011. We also arrived here back on November 30th. For all the time on the island, we had never taken the public ferry over to the mainland. Today, we decided to fix that.

The crossing takes about a half hour. We had no particular reason to visit Butterworth, but it was a very nice day for an outing in 31C temperatures. (I think about people back in Canada and then laugh a little to myself.) The ongoing construction of the huge transit terminal, Penang Sentral, on the mainland meant we needed to take a shuttle bus to get to the local Penang buses. We got on bus #701 and went for a short while to the Megamall, but it was old and not very interesting.

Of course, when coming back it was exactly the time to have a little lunch! We walked to Little India from the jetty. Bus #301 right near the restaurant brought us practically to our door in Relau in the afternoon.
