Day 13 - We 'did' Italy one fall, however, we did not stop in Verona. So, we thought as long as we're in the Venice port for two days, we could visit today. We had to spend €1.50 to take the 'People Mover" one stop from the port. From that point, we walked to the train station. It seemed familiar enough for during a previous visit to Venice, we had stayed at more economical lodging in the town of Mestre. We were familiar with the spot where the train terminates beside the Grande Canal.
Our cruise ship will stay for two nights here in Venice. It is a major stop and some passengers will be disembarking. New folks will get on for the Greek Islands and return to Rome.
We found and used a Trenitalia ticket machine and chose to leave on the 11:12 regular train and return on the 15:21. Those runs were approximately one and a half hours each.

It was quite a trip to downtown Verona, but flat terrain. For some reason, the city was much bigger than I anticipated. We found the location of the four large churches, the ancient arena, the shopping streets, and the fake balcony for Romeo and Juliet. I cupped the breast of Juliet's statue as it the practice. I'm not sure what the benefit is to be.

It was a longer day than we've been doing. It seemed a little odd not having our usual, afternoon shipboard nap.
